The participation fees are 45 euros per delegate (3 delegates per delegation), except for the 3 following delegations : Australia, Russia and Brazil (participation fee of university teams paid by the host school ESCP-EAP).
- The participants will join one of the 20 delegations composed of three delegates :
- A Head of State, head of the delegation
- A Political Sherpa : from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- An Economic Sherpa : from the Ministry of Finance and Economy
This model, proposed by the European member states, is the one that was used for the G20 Summit « for Financial Markets and the World Economy » held in Washington on November 15th.
Each delegate will participate in the committee that corresponds to his/her function : the Head of States committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee or the Economy and Finance Committee.
A particular feature is that the European Union is represented in the G20 summit by the 4 European member states of the G8 and the G20 (France, England, Italy and Germany). However these states will also participate as individual and sovereign member states with their own delegation.
This European Union 20th delegation will be headed by :
- the President of the European Commission,
- and in the place of Sherpas will be joined by the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy and the European Commissioner of Economic and Monetary affairs.
The other 19 countries participating are :
- The « G8 countries » : Japan, the United States, Canada, Germany, Russia, the UK, Italy and France.
- The « Emerging Countries » : South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, South Korea, India and Mexico.
- Indonesia and Turkey were replaced in the beginning of November 2008 by Spain and the Netherlands under the pressure of France due to their weak financial weight.
And finally, the General Secretary of the UN, the Directors of the IMF, the World Bank (IBIRD) and the WTO will head the Head of States committee.
Therefore, based on these numbers, 64 students will be able to participate in the summit.
